West End waitress deserves a big tip

YOU’LL never look at a pie in the same way after watching US stage smash Waitress.

I sent Bizarre reporter Ellie Henman to the West End’s Adelphi Theatre to get a slice of the action.

US singer Katharine McPhee is sensational as lead character Jenna, a downtrodden wife who finds herself up the duff and trapped in an unhappy marriage.

But thanks to a hunky doctor played by Brit actor David Hunter – and a love of baking – Jenna hopes to change her life.

She’s helped by a stellar cast including 30 Rock’s Jack McBrayer, who plays the hilarious Ogie, and Laura Baldwin, who shines as unlucky-in-love Dawn.

EastEnders cop Shaun Prendergast also stands out as miserable Old Joe, who shows his true colours as the extravaganza explodes into an all-singing all-dancing climax.

Six-time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles wrote the musical, based on the 2007 film, and you won’t be able to stop yourself singing along.

From sex to scandal and adultery, nothing is off the menu in Waitress.

It’s well worth filling your boots.
